A productive and bio-diverse rural landscape Set in the foothills of the south Pennine range, Northern England, the original farm benefits from panoramic views of the beautiful open countryside. Following the retirement of the third generation of family farm tenants the agricultural use of the land has laid redundant and unused for several years leading to a decline in the natural habitat and loss of local employment.

Working with the new family owner Group Ginger have secured consent for; The new Apple Barn restoring active rural productive use to 22 acres of land. The proposals establish a managed landscape, apple orchard and agricultural building to provide an independent and resilient model.

Planting a new orchard to include Yorkshire heritage cider apple and perry pear varieties; the proposals secure local employment and sustain heritage farming skills, including orchard maintenance, enhancing bio-diversity and cider making.

Work starts on site late summer with tree planting in the autumn.
