Group Ginger Shortlisted for RIBA Yorkshire Awards X3

Architects Journal: Three projects by Leeds-based Group Ginger Architects have been named among the 13 schemes vying for RIBA Yorkshire regional awards

The shortlist for the 2018 accolades also includes a pair of schemes by Bond Bryan Architects as well as Evans Vettori’s Square Chapel Arts Centre, finally completed last year after more than a decade on the drawing board.

Chair of the judging panel Roger Hawkins of Hawkins\Brown said: ‘The RIBA awards are the most rigorously judged awards for architectural excellence. In Yorkshire we are at the start of this journey for 2018, considering a wide range of projects from throughout the region. On offer were buildings and places, both large and small, public and private, including new construction and conservation work that demonstrated innovation in architecture.’

He added: ‘All members of the jury were impressed at the quality of submissions and detailed information provided. This year has been a new focus on sustainability, both economic and environmental as well as the capacity to stimulate, engage or delight.’

The shortlisted buildings will now be assessed by a regional jury with the winning buildings announced at a joint ceremony with the RIBA North East regional awards on Thursday 24 May at The Museum Gardens, York.

All the regional award winners will be put forward for the RIBA National Awards, the winners of which will be announced in June. National award-winners will then be considered for the RIBA Stirling Prize which is announced in October.
