Doncaster Council’s Cabinet agreed to appoint MAM, Market Asset Management to operate Doncaster and Mexborough Markets. Group ginger will be working with MAM to define the next chapter of this historic market; looking to the future and an investment of £2.3 million in the first 5-years and a further £6.2 million thereafter.

Working with MAM, Doncaster Council and existing traders group ginger will be helping to define a masterplan vision for the whole market and an incremental delivery plan including the refurbishment of the existing built assets.  The existing offer of fresh fruit & vegetables, meat, fish sold by independent retailers is a jewel in Doncaster’s crown, and we want to help these businesses to thrive and encourage other small independent businesses to find their home at Doncaster Market.

Over the next year we will be undertaking survey and enablement works and consulting with existing traders, listening to their views of the Markets and their vison for the future. We understand the challenges facing retailers and high streets nationwide but believe that Markets have a central place in shaping consumer social habits.
